The Illinois Department of Public Health regulates body art establishments, so it is up to the operator of the establishment to ensure everyone performing body art has the following:
- Knowledge of anatomy and body art procedures.
- Knowledge of infectious disease control, including waste disposal, hand-washing techniques, sanitization and sterilization of equipment.
- Skin diseases, disorders and conditions (including diabetes).
- Complete documentation of complete blood-borne pathogens course
The registration fee for a body art establishment license is $500 for 1 work station and goes up by $50 for each additional work station.
